Derik Eggert is the visionary owner of Salon Ivory, whose journey from the culinary world to the heart of the beauty industry is nothing short of inspiring. Derik’s passion for the art of hairdressing led him to pursue his lifelong dream, graduating from Seattle’s Aveda Institute in 2008. After honing his cutting and coloring skills, his insatiable thirst for knowledge led him back to the classroom, where he graduated as an Educator in 2011.
Over the years, Derik has perfected his craft and guided and inspired hundreds of students, serving as a Lead Educator and director of instructor training. His nine-year tenure at one of Seattle’s top Aveda salons allowed him to build invaluable connections and receive unmatched mentoring, shaping him into the accomplished stylist and educator he is today.
Derik’s specialties are as diverse as his experiences. A globetrotter seeking deeper insights into cutting and coloring techniques, his haircuts are mindful and inspired by the world’s top stylists, offering precise and stylish men’s cuts. As a colorist, he excels as a blonding specialist, crafting brilliant reds and exploring the beautiful spectrum of brunette hair. Certified in Balayage, Derik maximizes the finest styling details, creating incredible looks ranging from elegant to whimsical, all with naturally derived products.
With Salon Ivory, Derik is committed to continuing his dedication to Aveda’s global outreach and sustainability message. Locally, his preservation efforts have raised over $50,000 for the Puget Soundkeepers Alliance. Globally, he has traveled to India with the Aveda Earth Month team, contributing to philanthropic efforts inspired by the land and community that shape the company’s ethics and product line.
Derik feels blessed that his career with Aveda has allowed him to combine his passion for travel and higher education, guiding students globally for advanced training, styling at New York’s Fashion Week, and attending hair shows and training across the country. Grounded by his Midwest upbringing, Derik remains humble to each client’s needs, whether for their hair or soul.
